Watch out for Green GB Week this month
Businesses are being encouraged to take part in the country’s first Green GB Week from 15-19 October 2018, which aims to highlight the benefits of clean growth and low carbon economy.
The government-backed initiative will see a week of events and activity bringing together businesses, schools, colleges, universities, community groups and charities to promote opportunities to reduce emissions, grow the low carbon economy and create a better environment.
Each day of the week will focus on a different theme:
• Monday: UK Leading the world
• Tuesday: Technologies of the future
• Wednesday: Financing the low carbon economy
• Thursday: Clean growth as a business opportunity
• Friday: Climate action in communities.
Businesses are being encouraged to make a commitment on an online ‘Pledge Wall’ created in partnership with green news service edie, and explore the Green GB Week toolkit for ideas on how to take further action.
‘Celebrating UK leadership’
The idea for the initiative was first announced in the government’s Clean Growth Plan last year.
Claire Perry, minister of state for energy and clean growth, said: “I’m thrilled that we’re holding our
first Green GB Week. In the year that marks the 10th birthday of the Climate Change Act, Green GB Week will bring the whole country together to celebrate UK leadership and look forward to the next ten years, where we can seize the opportunities of clean growth.”
