Lighting company pursues innovation in ‘crowded marketplace’
One Electrical, a lighting and wiring accessories manufacturer in Manchester, is launching an innovative new LED lighting solution and has set ambitious growth plans for the next 12 to 18 months.
Established in 2000, One Electrical manufactures and distributes its own branded electrical wiring accessories, lighting and energy efficient LED lighting products from its headquarters in Manchester.
The company’s products are all manufactured and tested to relevant British and European standards and have a range of cross-sector applications, including the public, industrial, commercial and domestic sectors.
With support from the Greater Manchester Business Growth Hub, the company is pursuing new product innovations to improve LED technologies in existing markets, as well as bring the technology to previously untapped markets.
The company’s latest innovation, PEND-LED, is a highly-efficient and unique enclosed LED pendant light for the domestic sector.
The patent-pending product is the world’s only integrated LED pendant. As it is tamper-proof and fully-compliant with Part L building regulations, it is targeted at housing associations because of the low maintenance and guaranteed cost savings it offers.
With the Hub’s support, One Electrical was able to access the Manufacturing Institute’s Fab Labs facility in Manchester for prototyping services, a resource it plans to continue using for future products.
The Hub also helped to connect One Electrical to Salford University’s pioneering Energy House to undertake further product testing in preparation for its launch to market.
The company has also secured the services of a post-graduate student from the university’s Business School to undertake an in-depth marketing project to assist with the product launch.
As an active member of the Business Growth Hub’s Low Carbon Network, One Electrical receives additional information on upcoming business opportunities and has created an online company profile to raise its visibility in Greater Manchester.
The Hub’s low carbon sector team has also facilitated introductions with distributors in the region and linked the company to local business opportunities, leading to new partnerships and sales.
Rob Chadwick, director at One Electrical, said: “The Business Growth Hub has given us practical, real-world support with raising our company profile through the Low Carbon Network, introductions to other distributors in the area and access to new business opportunities.
“They have also supported us to undertake further product testing alongside the launch of our new PEND-LED and have provided us with the information and tools to develop further products.
“This will help us to ensure we continue to innovate in a crowded marketplace, which will in turn help us to create new sales and grow the company. We look forward to continuing our work with the Hub over the next 12-18 months to help grow our business.”
