All-in-one electric vehicle bundle charges forward
Manchester start-up Zoom EV has launched a UK-first bundle of green energy, charging and parking discounts for electric vehicle owners, with more ground-breaking plans under the bonnet.
Zoom EV’s Sustainable Mobility Bundle provides home owners and businesses with discounted services from some of the UK’s leading electric vehicle (EV) businesses.
The initial benefits include discounted home charging units and green energy tariffs, reduced rates on parking around the country and a free charging key for one of the largest charging networks in Europe, with more expected to follow.
The service is the brainchild of founder Greg Fairbotham, who set out to find new ways to incentivise people to switch to electric vehicles and green energy after deciding to leave his job at BP in 2017.
“We found there really wasn’t a powerful way of incentivising and benefiting people for making more sustainable vehicle and energy choices out in the market, so we set about developing something that did,” Greg explained.
“Our bundle brings together some of the best organisations across charging, parking, green energy and home charging, to provide Zoom customers with preferential rates and services that they won’t find anywhere else”.
“We’re working with OEMs and vehicle retailers to integrate our bundle into their offers, and EV owners are also able to come to us direct.”
‘Manchester on the map’
As well as benefitting consumers, it is hoped that the incentives will boost Greater Manchester’s drive to clear up air pollution and transition to a zero carbon economy.
Zoom has worked closely with green tech advisors at GC Business Growth Hub to raise its profile across the city region, culminating in the opportunity to exhibit at Greater Manchester’s 2019 Green Summit, which was hosted by Mayor Andy Burnham and attended by nearly 2,000 people.
Greg added: “Manchester’s green city region agenda puts it on the map of global cities really driving change.
“Mayor Andy Burnham is doing a great job of making this a top priority for businesses and residents across the region, and the dedication of the youth groups to drive awareness has been amazing. The challenge is for all of us to make changes and Zoom is certainly up for this challenge.”
